Life is like Fishing

Life is like fishing,
We’re all called to be fishers of men.
It’s in the wait and the thrill of the lure,
That keeps us keep trying again.

We all have different talents of bait,
Our strong, sturdy faith as our rod.
The Good News Gospel is our hook,
That will have people believing in God.

We all have places we are called to fish,
Where our unique bait is most effective.
Whether it’s from life’s rivers, lakes or sea,
All our catches are considered collective.

Some fish’s faith is too small to be used,
And gets thrown back to keep on growing.
But if we keep trying and persevering,
We can be sure of a steady following.

God uses the few fish that we catch,
And multiplies it to feed us all.
For each catch is gutted and cleaned,
Whether our catch is big or small.

Don’t let some get caught in the net,
Of guilt, shame and condemnation.
For all fish can be used in life’s feast,
And each catch a joyful celebration.

Some fish have hard scales and bones,
That God will remove before eating.
Our job is to catch them as they are,
And allow God to free them from sinning.

Keep fishing for friends to disciple,
To teach them the right way to live.
Be focused, determined and have patience,
And know your testimony to give.

Visit them instead of inviting,
For church cannot catch them like you.
For each one you  teach and disciple,
Will multiply to a lot from a few.

For fishing for men is commissioned to all,
Not just for Evangelists and Pastors.
All God’s family must heed this call,
And learn to become fishing masters!

Life is like riding a Bicycle

Life is like riding a bicycle,
It takes courage and patience to ride well.
You need a stable, good conditioned bike,
And the will and strength for the pedal.

Your parents are your training wheels,
Who support you as you learn how to ride.
But when you’re freed to ride without them,
You can take life’s journey in your stride.

Look ahead to see where you’re going,
Keep your destination in focus and clear sight.
Lean with life’s curves so you’ll keep moving,
And ensure your life’s balance is kept right.

To reach an upper, higher level in life,
You need to be changing your gears.
It’s only then that your muscles will burn,
And you’ll learn how to stifle your fears.

Adjust your speed to control your pace,
Rest well so you can go the extra mile.
Enjoy the thrill of life’s fast-moving race,
And keep riding ahead with a smile.

Use God’s Word as your handlebars,
To help steer and guide you on course.
Always wear your helmet of salvation,
To protect you from life’s evil force.

Adjust your saddle and maintain your bike,
Inflate your flat tyres with hope.
Expect life’s bumpy and slippery paths,
As you trust in God’s help to cope.
