Break Free

There is a prison that has no bars,
With neither a lock nor a security key.
Yet it keeps one bound in chains,
With an inner yearning to be set free.

There is a prison that has no walls,
With neither a roof ahead or a floor.
Yet it imprisons and enslaves you,
And keeps you banging on the door.

There is a prison that has no guards,
Where no slop for food is served.
Yet it feeds you full with shame,
And finds you guilty, as deserved.

There is a prison with no escape,
Of endless torment, pain and hurts.
Where strongholds find no refuge,
Despite persistent, trying efforts.

This prison is not built with brick,
For its cell is built in your mind.
It keeps you from living life free,
When you can’t leave the past behind.

It’s where addictions become your guard,
With fears that control your every move.
You are bound by its invisible chains,
That only deliverance can fully remove.

So break free from this cell that confines you,
Let go of every chain that keeps you bound.
Open the door of your mind to break free,
For its there where your freedom is found.
