Where
do the homeless go
When
the wind is howling
When
the rain is bucketing down
And
their stomachs growling?
Where
do the homeless sleep
When
their bodies are aching
When
they are cold and tired
And
their spirits breaking?
Where
do the homeless wash
When
they are grimed in dirt
When
their souls need cleansing
And in
need of a clean shirt?
Where
should the homeless go
In need
of a pillow for their head
When
they have no place to call home
And sometimes
wish they were dead?
Where
should the homeless eat
When
they are empty with desperation
Their
stomachs rumbling with need
And
their bodies skeletal from starvation?
Yet,
buildings lie empty, abandoned and locked
Good
food is thrown out, wasted and rotten
Whilst
the homeless are shooed away like dogs
Their
names and daily struggles forgotten
Wake up
and let’s start a revolution
To care
more, to share and stop ignoring
To see
their suffering, their hurts and pain
And be
blessed in helping in their restoring
