Heart of the Matter - A Biblical Prose

The heart is an amazing organ; a master-piece of brilliance;
It is the alpha and the omega; the very beginning and the final end of life.
It is where your dreams are born from and where your life's treasure is stored.
It is where your love grows from and where your hate flows from;
Your heart can be grieved, troubled, offended, discouraged or broken;
It can be rebellious, stubborn, fearful, double-minded and proud.

But it can also be willing, courageous, stirred and humbled.
Your heart can be moved, refreshed, surrendered and strengthened.
We use it to seek with, to follow after or to discern with;
You speak from it, yearn from it, know in it.
It can melt, be touched, humbled and give you wisdom.
You can reflect, trust and meditate with it;
You can take things to heart, find it on your heart,
Take words to heart and do what's on your heart.

What is recorded and written on your heart, is played back in your mind.
Your plans are made in your heart, and are revealed in your thoughts.
Your decisions are carried from your gut to your heart and pumped to your brain.
Your heart carries your values, your beliefs, your secrets and your desires.
It is the core centre of who you are and how you choose to live out your life.
The blueprints of your life are imprinted on your heart, and worn on your sleeve.
Therefore, protect and guard your heart from foolishness and evil.
And circumcise your heart with righteousness, keeping it clean and pure.

Anxiety weights down your heart;
Absence of hope makes your heart sick;
A saddened heart crushes your spirit;
But a glad heart will enjoy a continual feast in life.

For to know someone’s heart is to know their very soul.
