Life is like a road,
Often winding and quite
steep.
There are many signs to
look out for,
And many road rules to
keep.
God places stop-signs,
When he knows we need a
rest.
They are made to
recharge us,
And not placed there as
a test.
Traffic lights give us
warning,
To know when it’s time
to proceed.
God’s Spirit is our
inner traffic light,
Which can often be hard
to read.
Sometimes you need
bright hazards,
God’s light to shine
your way,
For when the future
gets hard to see,
And you get tempted to
go astray.
Sometimes our lives get
potholes,
When our hearts get
hard and brittle.
But God can easily
restore us,
When it’s done often,
little by little.
God puts clear road
markings,
To help us stay on
track.
These are found in His
written Word,
And help show us what
we lack.
Sometimes our lives get
detoured,
When road-works become
needed.
Don’t get angry or
become impatient,
Just follow the course
and heed it.
Life can often become
traffic-jammed,
And lead to much
congestion.
But keep your calm and
plan-ahead,
And don’t tire out from
exhaustion.
Whatever road you
decide to be,
A busy high-way or a
country lane.
God has a special
purpose for you,
To help carry a world
in pain.
Difficult roads often
hold treasures,
Found in their end
destination.
These are often a most
beautiful view,
And is God’s reward for
our dedication.
